As I was reading the NY Times this morning and seeing what had occurred in the world, I came across the new "T Magazine". I just so happens that it has been redesigned. As a designer, I liked the old design. The site was easy to navigate and design wise it was simple and yet elegant in every sense of the word. However, the new layout is clean, fresh, and modern with a center stationary image that can be scrolled through as well as navigation on either side. With the old site there was less scrolling and with my new found knowledge of web design--the less scrolling the better. People get bored!
Redesigns are not always a good idea. Take for instance the new Pepsi logo that was unveiled last year. The old logo was known around the world and there was no need for the company to change it. The new logo kept the same color scheme but they tried to interpret a smile which changes which each one of their drinks.
